The Future of AI

AI technology is expanding at a rapid pace and while some of the simple or weak AI systems that have been developed are implemented for everyday data analysis, customer service and more, future systems could represent drastic changes in society. Technology is only continuing to develop and the AI systems that are being developed are also becoming much more advanced. While we are nowhere near an AI system that can perform with the same level of flexibility and power that the human brain can provide, we do have AI systems that are capable of focusing in on specific tasks and completing the much more efficiently than any human can.

Here are some of the biggest changes that we can see as AI technology develops in the near future:

Our transportation:

Self-driving cars are becoming much more widespread and with more and more car companies investing in this technology, we are getting much closer to a full level of automation for almost every vehicle in the transportation industry. There are already cars which can essentially drive themselves during their morning commute and it could be only a matter of time before we start seeing self-driving buses, trains, and more.

Improvements in the workplace:

We utilize drones today and a variety of robots to take on extremely dangerous jobs such as defusing bombs or working in extremely hazardous conditions. As AI develops there may no longer be a need for a human operator for a drone or a sophisticated robot that would be placed in a harmful situation. These improved safety features can help to prevent accidents in human workers and help us to develop more efficient working practices.

Improvements in care/companionship:

As robots continue to advance they could eventually become predictive caregivers for us. AI could help as living nurses when paired with robotics or even serve as a companion to us. If AI develops to a point where it can develop its own personality and perform with the same precision as the human brain this could lead to AI completing tasks around the home and even caring for us as we get older.

Enhancing ourselves:

AI technology could eventually help us to start improving our own abilities as well. We know the current AI technology can sort through data at a staggering rate. As this continues to develop we could eventually create AI that could be integrated with our own minds to help us in turn process data much faster or even offer aid when necessary. Imagine integrating AI with robotic limbs to develop muscle memory and more fluid movements for applications like athletics. These are some of the applications for AI that could be integrated into our own bodies within the near future.

Helping us live in our world:

AI systems could serve as predictive models for climate change, help us predict the weather and more in a more improved version that we have currently. As technology and the ability to predict patterns in our world can be brought into AI technology, we might one day have models that can predict weather events much more accurately and even help us with some new solutions for environmental crises that we face like global warming.

These are just a few of the stunning applications that AI could serve for us in the very near future. As this technology continues to develop we are presented with a very bright and meaningful future thanks to AI!
